LongSan Maritime CBO

About us

LongSan Maritime CBO is a community-based organisation that trains young people on Kenya’s coast in practical trades that pay.

Our story

LongSan Maritime CBO started with a simple worry: too many young people on our coast were finishing school with no trade, while boats waited for repairs and engines waited for a mechanic.

So we began teaching the skills that are needed right here, on the water and in town: building and painting boats, fixing engines, fishing with long lines, carpentry, baking, tailoring and hairdressing.

Today we train young people with the help of local craftspeople, volunteers and partners, and we stay with them until they’re earning.

What we’re working towards

A coast where every young person has a trade, and the confidence to make a living from it.

How we work

Hands-on training from people who do the work, in small groups, with real tools. We account for every shilling, and we tell the people who support us what their help did.
